Cash Mobs: A New Trend in Favor of Local Businesses

A new kind of mob may be coming to a community near you. Cash mobs have exploded in popularity across the United States with many cities establishing their own group to help organize cash mobs in their area.

The concept of a cash mob is simple. Use social media, word of mouth and other forms of promotion to organize a group of people within your local community to visit a designated local business at a specified time and spend at least $20.

Theme Parks to Visit This Summer

There are a lot of great theme parks to visit this summer but the number one park on any list should be Disney World. Not only does Disney hang its hat on customer service and quality of service but the entertainment giant just knows how to give people a good time. There is something for everyone in Orlando Florida. Revelers can enjoy the futuristic rides and innovative technology at Epcot, take a spin in a teacup in the Magic Kingdom, go on a safari in Animal Kingdom or ride the Aerosmith roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, formerly known as MGM.

Bonnaroo’s Hit Lineup for Summer 2011

The Bonnaroo music festival is entering into its tenth year in 2011, and this wildly popular annual event is set to present the most diverse and exciting lineup in the festival’s history. The word "Bonnaroo" is slang from the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, the neighborhood responsible for some of the Crescent City’s best music. It loosely translates as “The best of the streets” and that’s what this festival – which takes place in Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee – delivers.

Fast Five: The Sequels Continue

A new addition to the cast for the fifth film is former wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who plays a Diplomatic Security Service agent. The four previous films focused on street racing while Fast Five was produced to lure audiences in with more adventure, gun fights and big heists rather than car culture and muscle cars.

Jobs in America – Are They Here Yet?

The pundits all say that the economy is on the upswing, and things are getting better every day.  But are they, really?  Have the jobs come back to America?  As in so many things, it depends on your frame of reference.  The heavy industry jobs – steel mills, manufacturing, assembly work – those are mostly gone, and won’t come back.  They’ve been relocated overseas where the pay and benefits are much less.

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Officially Lifted This Summer

The recent ruling to lift the military policy known as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” helps end a shameful chapter in our nation’s history. However, it seems too early to believe that the hotly contested decision is invulnerable. Much like the abortion issue and the civil rights movement, the matter of gays openly serving their country has seemingly served as a clarion call to extremists. It has often brought out the worst, most narrow-minded and most intolerant sentiment – making it almost impossible to have a rational, national debate on the subject.

With the Los Angeles Laker’s still reeling from a recent loss, excluding them from moving on to the playoffs this year, all eyes are on Lamar Odom as pals and fellow players wonder if his reality show is taking a toll on his game. Odom and Khloe Kardashian, herself no stranger to the world of reality TV, are in the first season of filming their new reality show, Khloe and Lamar, which focuses on their life as newlyweds who married having known each other for only several weeks before getting hitched.

Zombie Ants

Believe it or not, zombies actually exist. It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but zombies are real. Don’t worry, the zombies are not human, they are zombie ants. Zombie ants are not caused by a scary, drooling, dead person walking around biting people, they are actually caused by a fungus.

Chelsea Handler’s New Book “Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me”

Comedienne Chelsea Handler is too busy to be bothered with taking on the sole responsibility of penning yet another comic best-seller, so she has tricked her unsuspecting pals into doing the heavy lifting for her. In “Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me,” the over-worked blonde comic with a predilection for prevarication and a reputation for naughty pranks convinces loved ones and co-workers to contribute tales of falling victim to the force of nature named Chelsea.

McDonalds Getting a Makeover

Even with the film Super Size Me, millions and millions of people still love what those golden arches represent; hot salty french fries, warm apple pie and the Big Mac, two hamburgers with lots of goodies in the middle. So why is McDonalds looking to undergo a $2.4 billion makeover in 2011 and what does that mean for customers?
